Ten sections of Rohn 25,
hinged tower bases, a 40 foot pushup mast, and other
materials that were sealifted to Providenciales in
January. K4LT and W0CG drove all this from Ohio to Fort
Lauderdale (tough duty) at put it on a boat (Arawak
Caribbean Shipping Line).

assembly of the Cush-Craft 40-2CD, which was sealifted
form the states. Photo by Cindy, W0CG's XYL, who was
helping with the antenna assembly. |
Goose again, not quite
believing that it's 85 degrees and sunny in February.... |

Goose, W8AV setting up the 40 meter beam to be raised up
the tower. K4LT cleverly attached the reflector on the
tower, hauled the boom up parallel to the tower, put the
driven element on at the bottom, then muscled the whole
yagi up over his head and onto the mast single-handed...!

Detail of one of the hinged
tower bases fabricated by Steve, N8LGP, and hauled to the
island by boat. This shows Steve working like mad to
drill a hole in the coral to pin the tower base in place.
The coral powder that resulted from the drilling was so
fine that it had to be blown out of the hole with a small
blowtube before the pin could be inserted. Steve'e
ingenuity demonstrated once again with the blowtube. |
Steve drilling away. How
hard IS this island, anyway...? |

Geoff, W0CG, pretending to
perform work on the 40 meter tower. |
The 40 meter mast, nested
inside the tower prior to being raised into position. |
Here's the 40 meter tower,
pre mast, rotor, and antenna. (We would show you pictures
of the tower being raised, but OSHA would have to arrest
us all.) |

Here's Steve, N8LGP (and
others) in one of the rare instances when he looked a
little worried. |
Another angle on the 40
meter tower. |

a 40 meter tower guy rope. (Notice the proximity of the
hammock at the right.) |

his profession (a rock) to the removal of tower bolts
during teardown on Monday. Right:
