March 13, 2003: The feedline from the Europe Beverage to the shack is 650 feet in length. This shows the last portion of that feedline, prior to installation, which runs from the outside of the wall by the road to the shack. We used RG-213 BuryFlex direct burial cable from Davis RF and sheathed much of its length in this flexible conduit. This is just prior to Geoff's inserting the coax into the sheath. |
This is the sheathing. About $47 at Home Depot in Ohio. |
Here's the junction box that will be mounted on the outside of the front wall, by the road. The procedure will be to connect a coax jumper to this box, run it across the road on the surface to the feedline running up the cliff to the Europe Beverage, and then to remove it in the morning. Like everything else at PJ2T, this is installed with the best materials and techniques with an eye toward minimum maintenance. |
Here's that box, now mounted in its permanent location on the wall. Note the conduit coupler and grey conduit going underground. |
Geoff did a LOT of digging to install this Europe Beverage feedline. Here's the conduit continuing its trip to the shack. |
This is as deep as this ditch can go without hitting the footers for the wall. |
Here the conduit goes through one of the foot thick pilasters to the inside of the property. Thanks W0NB for asking the contractor to install these PVC conduits at the last minute. |
The same pilaster, looking back toward the road. |
