Notes on PC 14

March 2004

CD Burner installed March 2004. (NW0L)

November 2004

Would not start. Was in service at Station 2. On November 20 would not start -- dead. Much troubleshooting netted no results. Placed in closet as cannibalization parts source for its companion PC (PC8).

7 Sept 2005

Tested intermittent. When it starts, it is 100% good.

12 November 2005

Swapped in different power supply and system starts and runs reliably. Good power supply was removed from PC14 and placed in PC8. As of this date PC14 is in the closet awaiting a new power supply.

2 February 2006

Put in new power supply transported by W9JUV. No video. Tried another card -- still no video. Swapped original card back in -- now have video. Final status of PC14: Operational.

12 February 2009

Will not start. Floppy drive clicks repeatedly and power supply light on bottom stays in solid green, or sometimes alternates. Discovered that swapping in a different CPU heat sink chassis causes this problem to move with the chassis. Swapped in a different heat sink with no improvement. Out of options - retired to a spare parts machine.

30 January 2011

Took the PC14 floppy drive and hard drive and transplanted into PC 21. PC21 now works fine and PC14 remains a parts machine.
