Almost all of the concrete work was done on Sunday, 17 June 2001. This is the crew leader, Reibert, bending rebar for the bases. He worked from 7 AM until 7 PM without a break, fluids, or any apparent food except a couple of coconuts.

Rensel in the hole with the jack hammer.

The crew mixed, wheelbarrowed, and poured almost 10 cubic meters of concrete in a single afternoon. Here is the MAN, who had the hardest job of all -- you can't imagine the intensity of the June sun at 12 degrees north latutude!

This guy never stopped shoveling, never stopped sweating, and never stopped smiling. Amazing.

Our team rental car, with a guy anchor in the background and the air compressor to the right of the car.

This compressor did a lot of the dog work -- almost all of the holes involved significant chipping through solid rock and coral.

This is Zoom, the Signal Point caretaker, working hard during the pour.

We screwed up calculating how many sacks of concrete would be needed. Did OK on the gravel and sand estimates, but fell way short on concrete. Zoom managed to get his friends in Barber to open the hardware store for him on Sunday to get more, and then we "borrowed" even more bags from other projects in the neighborhood.

About halfway through the afternoon's mixing.

First couple loads of concrete are now in the base for the 80 footer.
